The Ups & Downs of Racehorse Ownership

December 13, 2018 News

It has been an extremely frustrating two days for the Coral Champions Club and its members. Battle Of Ideas and Annie Mc have both had to be withdrawn at the final declaration stage, highlighting the ups and downs that come with racehorse ownership.

Battle Of Ideas wasn’t quite 100% yesterday morning so Joe Tizzard and the team at Venn Farm decided not to declare him for his intended engagement at Taunton today. ‘Battle’ was running a big race at Chepstow last time but for a couple of mistakes at the third and second last. He jumped particularly well up to that point and we’re very excited to see him out again in the near future.

Annie Mc was on course for her first run in a handicap at Doncaster on Friday, however, Jonjo O’Neill has decided not to risk her on what is uncharacteristically quick ground for the time of year. ‘Annie’ has showed a real optimism for racing and is a mare we think quite a bit of so we’ve no doubt she’ll be worth the wait.

If there’s one thing you need with horses, it’s patience.
