Fairyhouse Easter Festival Preview

April 19, 2019 News
THERE is always plenty to look forward to at Easter and in the racing world that definitely means the Easter festival at Fairyhouse.
The Irish Grand National tops the bill, but there is plenty of quality over the course of the three-day fixture, including an outing from the Coral Champion Club’s very own Annie Mc in the Grade 1 Mares Novice Hurdle Final.
We spoke to some of the key players over the next few days to find out who they are looking forward to seeing and what the highlight of their season has been too.

Henry De Bromhead
Who are you most looking forward to running this weekend?
Honeysuckle (4.25 Sunday)
“She’s been in good form since missing the Cheltenham Festival. We can’t wait to get her back on the course again.”

Your highlight of the season
“We’ve been fortunate to have a lot of good days this season. Cheltenham was very good, but we’ve been delighted with how it’s gone.”

Andrew Lynch
Who are you most looking forward to seeing running this weekend?
Goose Man (5.00 Monday)
“I think you’ll potentially want something down towards the bottom of the weights. They’ve given him a good break coming into this race and he looks one that could run a good race.”

Your highlight of the season?
“It’s been brilliant to see how well Henry de Bromhead has done this season. I thought Minella Indo was one that really caught my eye in the Albert Bartlett at the Cheltenham Festival.”

Noel Meade
Who are you most looking forward to running this weekend?
Tout Est Permis
Irish Grand National (5.00 Monday)
“It’ll be a tough ask for him under top weight, but he’s in great form and we’re really looking forward to running him. It’s a race we think will suit him.”

Your highlight of the season?
“Road To Riches winning the JNwine.com Champion Chase at Down Royal earlier in the season. That was a great day, as was Snow Falcon winning the Kerry National.”

David Mullins
Who are you most looking forward to riding this weekend?
Bellow Mome (5.00 Monday)
“He’s a lovely ride to pick up. I’d say I’ve been given the chance because of the weight he has, but he put in a good performance last time. I’m excited to be riding him.”

Your highlight of the season?
“I rode a Grade 2 winner for Dad at Christmas, which was brilliant, and then went on to win the Savills Chase on Kemboy. That was an amazing week.”

Patrick Mullins
Who are you most looking forward to seeing run this weekend?
Burrows Saint (5.00 Monday)
“He looks progressive and comes into the race with a good profile. I’d like to think he’d be there or thereabouts at the finish in this race.”

Your highlight of the season?
“From a personal point of view Sharjah winning in the Galway Hurdle and the Ryanair Hurdle at Christmas. For the yard, it has to be Al Boum Photo winning the Gold Cup.”

Thomas Mullins
Who are you most looking forward to running this weekend?
Court Maid (2.50 Sunday)
“She’s run two good races this spring. She’s in good form and I hope she can put in another decent performance in this race too.”

Your highlight of the season
“Spider Web won the Munster National which was brilliant. Rocky Blue’s win at Leopardstown over Christmas was a standout for me as well.”
