This week’s competition saw the £500 prize, with an additional £100 added, split equally among four winners with Rock The Kasbah and Baron Alco (NAP) the common denominator between our table toppers.
Rock The Kasbah, with Champion Jockey Richard Johnson on board, won the first race in our competition by a margin of 1.25 lengths at an SP of 9/1. He had previously shown his best form at Chepstow but this was a competitive handicap and connections can be pleased with this result. Place points went to Royal Vacation and Coneygree, who deserves a special mention for running a big race whilst carrying top weight.
The second race went in favour of game winner Baron Alco, seeing off a late challenge from Frodon. Baron Alco, trained by Gary Moore and ridden by his son Jamie, managed to avoid the carnage at the fourth last where Willie Boy fell, bringing down Happy Diva and the well travelling Rather Be. Guitar Pete and the well backed favourite, Mister Whitaker, trailed in third and fourth behind the very game winner.
Race Three saw hot favourite First Assignment bolt up by 9L, the furthest of the selected races, and looked a horse on the improve. Boyhood (10/1) and Goodbye Dancer (25/1) made up the rest of the places.
The fourth and final race of the competition provided the same outcome as the previous race, a winning combination of Ian Williams and Tom O’Brien. This time it was Speedo Boy (4/1F) who managed to win by a length, ahead of Mahlervous (28/1), a selection that managed to go under the radar of every competition entrant. Third place, and not too far away from the action was Lungarno Palace, a 16/1 shot for Fergal O’Brien.
Congratulations to all four winners this week, that share the prize in free bets:
