Back to the drawing board with Innocent Girl

June 6, 2018 News

INNOCENT GIRL disappointed at Fontwell on Tuesday and it’s very much a case of back to the drawing board with her.

She didn’t attack her fences like she can do and her usual enthusiastic way of going seemed to desert her from an early stage. Kieron Edgar was never happy with her and despite looming up and looking threatening with three fences to jump, her effort petered out. To her credit, she did plug on to regain fourth place on the line but given that she had everything in her favour, a well-beaten fourth was disappointing. However, it wasn’t all doom and gloom as our lucky owners for the day enjoyed a fantastic day out and got to experience the thrills of racehorse ownership for free.

In terms of a next step for Innocent Girl, she’s rated 14lbs below her chase mark over hurdles, so it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that she switches codes to the smaller obstacles but there’s no denying that she’s a better chaser than a hurdler. Let’s hope she gets back to the form she showed last year and if she does, it won’t be long before she gets her head back in front again.
